Ciara is in the final stretch of her pregnancy and giving details about expectancy during the coronavirus pandemic. The ‘Beauty Marks’ singer shares her experience with Vogue: Britain.
“You don’t hear a lot about us expectant mothers during this time,” Ciara tells the magazine. “Can babies get Covid-19 through the uterus? It’s a big mystery, and we’re some of the most vulnerable beings,” the celebrity mom says. “Our immune systems are compromised because we can’t take medicine if we get sick in case it affects the baby. If I get ill, I have to let it pass through my body.”
Ciara and her husband, Russell Wilson, announced their expectancy of a child several months back. The coronavirus pandemic had not garnered as much steam back then and both CiCi and her spouse were able to attend doctor’s visits together.
Now, COVID-19 lockdowns make it impossible for him to be in the same room as her at the doctor’s office. Such is the reason why Ciara and Russell heavily rely on FaceTime.
“When the image of the baby came on the screen, I FaceTimed Russ in the car so that he could see,” Ciara says of her sonogram visit with the doctor. “We women carry the baby, but for my husband, being in the room and listening to the heartbeat in real time is one of his ways of connecting,” The recording artist reveals. “For him not to be part of that was a symbol of this time that we’re living through.”
Ciara refuses to share just how far along she is in her expectancy. It is for certain, however, that the celebrity is coming to the finish line of her pregnancy experience. Ciara believes that she will be able to have her husband in the delivery room when the time comes. She, however, remains optimistic regardless of what the future may bring.
“I always ask, ‘How do I make the best of this moment,'” Ciara tells Vogue. “That’s always been my attitude when you go through adversity,” the celebrity mom says.
Ciara and Russell Wilson’s son will join the couple’s daughter, Sienna, and her son, Future Zahir, at home. Stay tuned for more celebrity pregnancy news!
