NICKELODEON AND TIME KICK-OFF SEARCH FOR YOUNG TO RECEIVE FIRST-EVER KID OF THE YEAR HONOR

Nickelodeon, Time Magazine, and Time for Kids have officially kicked-off their search for one extraordinary young leader to receive their first-ever Kid of the Year Honor. 

The Kid of the Year Honor is a multiplatform initiative to recognize the positive impact that one lucky young person is making on their community. Nominations are now open through August 1st, where parents, teachers, friends, and more can nominate a kid, aged 8-16. Once selected, five finalist honorees will be featured in a TV special, that will be hosted by The Daily Show with Trevor Noah funny man, Trevor Noah. The special will simulcast on Nick and the CBS Television Network in December.

Additionally, the special will feature stars from entertainment, spots and pop culture, as well as musical performance. Each finalist will receive funds to further their respective causes and have the chance to be a Kid Reporter for Time for Kids with exclusive access to a Nickelodeon event. 

“In the unprecedented times that we are living in today, it has been inspiring to see humanity come together to help one another, and I’ve been especially drawn to the stories of kids using their creativity to bring resources to their communities,” Noah said in an interview. “After all, the person who’s going to bring us a better tomorrow is a kid who’s out there doing it today!”

The recipient of the Kid of the Year Honor will be recognized as Time Kid of the Year and will be featured on the cover of Time Magazine with a story written on them in Time For Kids.

Nickelodeon’s Kid of the Year TV special is a co-production of TIME Studios, Day Zero Productions, Mainstay Entertainment and Nickelodeon. Executive Producers for the show will include Andrea Delbanco (TIME for Kids), Ian Orefice and Mike Beck (TIME Studios), Trevor Noah and Haroon Saleem (Day Zero Productions), Norm Aladjem, Derek Van Pelt and Sanaz Yamin (Mainstay Entertainment) and Rob Bagshaw, Paul J. Medford and Stacey Carr (Nickelodeon). The production of Nickelodeon’s Kid of the Year is overseen by Rob Bagshaw, Executive Vice President, Unscripted Content.
