As virtual graduations are underway, Chloe X Halle kick-off the season tonight, Friday, May 15th, by spreading a little #blackgirlmagic for the graduating class of 2020 at Spelman College.
“The weekend of celebrations will kick-off at 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 15, with a discussion between @SpelmanSGA President Nia Page, C’2020, and two-time Grammy-nominated recording artists @ChloexHalle on the institution’s official Instagram channel. At 7 p.m., the event will segue from a conversation to a live performance by the duo in tribute to Spelman students on @ChloexHalle’s Instagram platform, where they will perform a set, including new music from their upcoming album,” a statement read on the the school’s official Instagram account.
The duo’s new album is called, “DoIt,” which also drops today. To get fans excited about the new project, the pair recently put out a singing challenge to their fans.
And of course Twitter users were all there for it, praising the Bailey sisters for their amazing vocals.

Recently, the pair appeared on ABC’s Disney Family Singalong: Volume II, singing “Almost There.” The sisters were joined by Broadway star Anika Noni Rose, who played Princess Tiana in the Disney hit movie, The Princess and The Frog.
As we all know, Halle Bailey is about to join the ranks of Disney princesses as she was cast as Ariel in the live-action remake of The Little Mermaid.Â
When the news broke about the casting, unfortunately, there was a lot of negative backlash, but Halle stood tall and proud, eloquently commenting in a statement, “I feel like I’m dreaming and I’m just grateful and I don’t pay attention to the negativity. I just feel like this role was something bigger than me and greater and it’s going to be beautiful. I’m just so excited to be a part of it.”
We cannot wait to see the duo perform tonight! And, we cannot wait to see the The Little Mermaid. Congratulations to Chloe X Halle on all of their outstanding success this year and to the Spelman College Class of 2020, hats off to you…you did your thing!
