Just in time for Mother’s Day! Brandy has released the music video for her new single, ‘Baby Mama,’ and it is straight fire.
Brandy celebrates the strength of all single moms in her new song, which uses a term ordinarily meant to bring shame in society. “It’s a great Mother’s Day anthem because I feel like so many mothers out there don’t get the credit they deserve,” Brandy tells PEOPLE exclusively. “They’re just out there holding it down for their family and sharing that beautiful bond with their children [who] they’re making all these sacrifices for,” the celebrity mom continues.
“I wanted to celebrate that and also dedicate a song like ‘Baby Mama’ to my daughter who has inspired me tremendously in life. It was great to hook up with Chance the Rapper, who I had the pleasure of working with, and he just really blessed the record with such a great verse.”
Brandy goes on to celebrate motherhood by sharing favorite moments that come with being a parent. “My favorite thing about motherhood is seeing myself in my daughter and seeing each other in each other,” the celebrity mom says. “Our personalities are the same. We share so much of the same likes and she loves music. I just love seeing her grow into her own artist.”
