The ever-present COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak has forced thousands of public and private schools across the country to close, leaving parents to supervise their children’s education at home, which is actually more difficult than it sounds. Reality television star Kim Kardashian West, who has four kids, 6-year-old North, 4-year-old Saint, 2-year-old Chicago and 10-month-old Psalm, can certainly attest to that.
In video calls with popular talk shows The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon and The View, Kardashian West spoke about how the challenges she and her husband, rapper Kanye West face home-schooling their children since they started practicing social distancing. “So to be the teacher to four young kids — well, two are in school, so two — is insanity. I’m, like, hiding from them. And then they have to stop for P.E., go run up and down in the backyard, or they do this Pokémon yoga.” Kardashian West also talked about how having to home-school her children have given her a new respect for teachers, saying: “Being their teacher, too — my newfound respect for teachers! They deserve so much. It’s been tough juggling it all. You really have to put yourself on the back burner and just focus on the kids.”

Kim Kardashian West also spoke about the quality time she spends with her family, which includes “going on walks outside” and watching movies. “We’ve been showing the kids all these 80’s movies like Harry and the Hendersons and things that they wouldn’t have watched. I actually love that time. … It’s so much fun. … I love all the family bonding stuff.”
Though Kim Kardashian West enjoys the family time the coronavirus has afforded her, she laments the fact that the pandemic keeps her away from her famous siblings Khloé, Kourtney and Rob Kardashian, her half-sisters Kylie and Kendall Jenner, and her mother Kris Jenner. “It’s been really hard… It has been really challenging. Our kids haven’t seen each other, the cousins haven’t played together. We really are respecting the rules and do what we gotta do to help fight this virus.”
For Kim Kardashian West, that includes having her shapewear company SKIMS produce medical garments for medical personnel who need them due to a shortage of medical equipment. Through SKIMS, Kardashian West also donated $1 million to Baby2Baby, a charity that provides children in poverty with clothing and other basic necessities, to help families who have been affected by the coronavirus. “To know that they are going to be really helping families during this time really is important to me. I really want to give me,” says Kardashian West. “I’m grateful that SKIMS has that opportunity to be able to help me and do that.”
