Eva Marcille talked with Keyshia Cole on Instagram Live earlier this week and we’ve got all the juicy details! The Real Housewives of Atlanta (RHOA) star, and mom of three, discussed her relationship with her husband, Mike Sterling, as well as her daughter’s “sperm donor,” Kevin McCall, who is the biological father of Marley Rae Sterling.
“There are certain situations where you don’t get along with the guy but he still a good dad, then that’s a completely different situation,” Eva told Keyshia when asked about her motivation to legally change her daughter’s last name. The RHOA star received a lot of criticism from fans who thought it selfish of Eva to take away Marley’s connection to her biological father.
“I have a lot of people that have comments like, ‘Why did you change her name and why did you do this?’ You don’t live in this house,” Marcille told Cole. “I have one obligation and it’s to to give her the best life she can have. And this is her family. In our family, our name is Sterling.”
Eva went on to talk about her husband who has accepted Marley Rae as his own since courting Eva Marcille several years ago. “That is her dad, who tucks her in at night, signs her up for soccer, takes her to practice, teaches her tennis,” the celebrity mom said. “That’s her dad,” Marcille declared.
“I am not going to reserve this name for somebody for years down the line,” the RHOA star continued. “If Marley wants to change her name years from now, she can by all means do so. My earnest prayer is that he (Kevin McCall) is at some place when she’s ready and she needs him, I pray that he’s at the place that he needs to be.”
Keyshia Cole did not let the conversation end without asking the question that is on the minds of many. “Do you think that it will piss her off when she gets older,” Keyshia asked.
“No, I think that when your child you think with a child’s brain but when you’re an adult, you think with adults brain, especially when you become a woman and a mother,” Eva said. “We hang up too much on biology. Everyone doesn’t have that luxury [of having biological parents].”
Marley Rae Sterling is Eva Marcille and Kevin McCall’s only child together. The RHOA star has two sons, Maverick and Michael Jr., with her husband. Stay tuned for more Real Housewives of Atlanta family news!
