From a live concert to swimming in their backyard, John Legend and the family are making the most of California’s “safer at home” order. The celebrity father was recently joined by his wife, Chrissy Teigen, and their daughter, Luna Stephens, for a music session delivered by way of Instagram Live.
“I’ve never done this on my phone before,” John told his social media fans. The recording artist delivered his online concert “as promised” to more than 100,000 fans who watched live for more than 50 minutes. Luna and Chrissy joined the party later at which time Luna specifically requested to hear her father play and sing ‘Beauty And The Beast.’
“Social distancing is important, but that doesn’t mean it has to be boring,” John Legend told his social media followers. “I did a little at-home performance to help lift your spirits,” the celebrity father said. More than two million Instagram fans have watched the music session thus far.
John Legend joins dozens of other celebrities who are driving the #TogetherAtHome movement online initiated by the World Health Organization (WHO). Justin Beiber and Charli Puth also gave fans a bit of live music to enjoy during the coronavirus crisis. Common took to the web to perform a few of his classic hits.
“This ‘Together at Home’ thing I got really excited about because, you know for me, when a lot is going on, in the world or even within myself, dealing with a lot of things — music has always been something that brings me peace and I always get to enjoy it with other people,” Common said during his online concert. “We will be all right,” the rapper said.
California joined other states in implementing its “safer at home” ordinance on Friday. Individuals are strongly advised to remain in their homes under such measures with essential workers and those needing basic supplies as the exceptions to such mandates.
