Singer Brooke Monroe and basketball sensation Samaya Clark-Gabriel are definitely proving that talent is in full bloom this season on NBC’s Little Big Shots.
You have probably seen the little girl with big dreams in her viral videos with her dad. Seven-year-old Brooke Conway has put a new face to an old school beat. The amazingly talented young lady has received nods from names like Viola Davis, O Magzine, and many others. And of course, it didn’t take NBC’s Little Big Shots long to take notice and invite her on the show.
“That was so cool. I got to California and I saw the Hollywood sign. I went to perform in front of a live Hollywood audience. I met friends from all around the world,” Brooke said in an interview with WBAL TV. “When I grow up, I want to be a model and a singer and a dancer.”
Cornell Conaway, Brooke’s dad, told new host of the Little Big Shots, Melissa McCarthy, that he wanted to challenge his daughter with the old school style of music.
“I challenged her. I said, ‘I’m going to give you these lyrics from,’ — actually, it was Run DMC’s ‘I’m Black and I’m Proud.’ (I said), ‘And you let me know if you can learn them.’ And she was, like, ‘All right, I take that challenge.’ So she Facetimed me back and was, like, ‘Daddy, I got ’em!’ I said, ‘Whatever, OK.’ So when I picked her up, she did and she did it with such tenacity and passion. I said, ‘Oh, I’ve got to get this on tape.'”
Adorable little Brooke hasn’t been the only dynamic guest star among this season’s line-up. McCarthy also had the opportunity to get some court-tips from basketball sensation, Samaya Clark-Gabriel.
There is nothing that this Bed-Stuy 10-year-old cannot do! Samaya plays multiple sports, she has performed with the Harlem Globetrotters, and has been featured on television shows such as: The Pickler & Ben Show, Good Morning America (Live), GoodDay NY (Live) CBS Sports, USA Today, News 12 Brooklyn, Sports center, ESPNW, Chasing News, BricTV, The NY Post, Fox5NY, Ruptly TV(Russia), Women You Should Know, NowThis Her, Little Big Shots-Mexico Grandes Chicos, among others.
Proving that she does unquestionably have a funny-side, the awe-inspiring preteen called out her dad on national television telling McCarthy although he is her coach, “…he knows nothing about basketball.”
In addition to her athletic talent and funny bone, Samaya unquestionably has a heart of gold, finishing our thoughts with the perfect quote…,”All the world needs is a little love.” And of course, we could not agree with you more!
Cannot wait to see big things from these two phenomenal young women who are both proving that greatness does indeed come in small packages.
