Kim Kardashian is doing a bit of damage control after facing backlash online. The Keeping Up With The Kardashians (KUWTK) star recently took to Instagram to clarify the inspiration behind her daughter’s performance at Kanye West’s Yeezy Season 8 Show during Paris Fashion Week.
North West was accused of stealing rapper ZaZa’s flow and beat during her rap debut at Kanye’s show. North was accused of using the beat and flow of ZaZa’s ‘What I Do?’ when describing some of the fashion wear on the runway.
Some praised North West for her rap debut. Many, however, recognized the rhythm and called Kim Kardashian and Kanye West out on what they believed what an attempt to outright steal from another artist. ZaZa’s mom also took to Instagram to air out her concerns.
“We’re not mad, but please show love and support to the original first,” ZaZa’s mom said. “We admire Kanye west, and adore his journey,” the young rapper’s mom said. “However, we don’t wanna feel like our daughter’s journey in the world of entertainment is being STIFLED.”
Kim Kardashian took to Instagram to clear the air after criticism began to spread. “Kanye’s Yeezy Season 8 show in Paris last night was so special,” Kardashian shared after the show. “So SO proud of him and my Northie who performed her remix of one of her favorite artists ZaZa,” the KUWTK mom exclaimed. Kim further credited ZaZa as the original creator of the song by writing, “Shout out to @zazathecreator. North hopes you like the remix!”
ZaZa debuted ‘What I Do?’ on YouTube last August. Check out the original video here!
