Kobe Bryant’s wife, Vanessa Bryant, is completely devastated by the loss of her husband and daughter. Insiders tell PEOPLE that the celebrity mom is trying to be strong for her kids.
“It’s an extremely difficult and devastating time for Vanessa and the whole family,” a family friend shares with the media source. Another insider says that Vanessa is “devastated” to the degree of finding it difficult to speak.
“She can hardly keep it together,” the family friend says. “She can’t finish a sentence without crying. But she is working very hard to pull it together for the other girls. She now has to be the strong one.”
Kobe Bryant and his daughter, Gianna Bryant, were killed in a helicopter crash on Sunday (January 26). The accident claimed the lives of seven other passengers whose families are also devastated by the unimaginable loss.
“My kids and I are devastated,” Matt Mauser wrote online after learning that his wife, Christina Mauser, was one of the nine victims in the helicopter crash. “We lost our beautiful wife and mom today in a helicopter crash,” the widowed father shared.
Christina Mauser was an assistant coach at Kobe Bryant’s Mamba Academy. She and the other passengers were headed to the academy in Thousand Oaks for a game on Sunday.
Ara Zobayana was another victim. The longtime pilot was reportedly navigating through significant fog in Calabasas when he decided to pursue higher altitudes on Sunday morning. Kobe Bryant’s helicopter reportedly crashed into a hillside while climbing.
The nine victims in Sunday’s helicopter crash are as follows: Kobe Bryant, Gianna Bryant, Christina Mauser, Ara Zobayana, John Altobelli, Keri Altobelli, Alyssa Altobelli, Sara Chester, Payton Chester.
