COCO GAUFF WINS BIG AT THE FIRST ROUND OF THE AUSTRALIAN OPEN

Coco Gauff has kicked-off the new year in a grand slam sort of way, making it a perfect start to 2020. The fifteen-year-old tennis phenom defeated seven-time champion Venus Williams in the first round of the Australian Open!

This is the teenage tennis pro’s first time competing in the main draw in Australia. Gauff won against Williams 7-6 6-3, with an early lead at the beginning of their match.

“I just want to say thank you guys, you guys were chanting my name and I only thought that would happen at the US Open,” Gauff said to the crowd in Margaret Court Arena. “To hear that here in Australia means a lot to me.”

In addition to Gauff’s epic win, tennis pro Naomi Osaka also took the prize on the first day of the tournament as well in Rod Laver Arena. Osaka was the defending champion on the court who defeated the Czech Republic’s Marie Bouzkova, winning over her competition 6-2 6-4.

These two phenomenally blessed athletes have unquestionably made their marks on their sport and both of them have grabbed the spotlight for a new generation of athletes. Congratulations, ladies! We cannot wait to see both of you continue to dominate on the court!
