Omarion credits his kids, A’mei and Megaa Grandberry, for helping him remain calm when the drama that surrounded Apryl Jones and Lil Fizz’s relationship reached an all-time high.
“I saw how far I could take it,” Omarion tells ESSENCE in a new interview. “[But] when you’re a serious person like me you have to consider all things,” he adds.
The news of Lil Fizz and Apryl Jones doing life as a couple spread last year after. Apryl and Fizz deemed it necessary to go public with their relationship on an episode of Love and Hip Hop: Hollywood (LHHH), which was an act that Moniece and other cast members criticized.
Fans of the show questioned how Omarion was handling the relationship with Apryl being the mother of his children and Lil Fizz his fellow band member. Omari, however, told VladTV that he did not feel any way about the matter. The recording artist did suggest that Apryl and Fizz change the narrative on the show so that their relationship was more about their feelings and less about his opinion.
Some believe that Omarion expressed his disproval of Apryl and Fizz’s relationship by announcing his 2020 tour dates, which did not include B2K. Omarion, however, maintains that he did not retaliate against his fellow band member or children’s mother.
“Having children and just keeping that in perspective and knowing that it’s not all about you that really helped me just maintain my position,” the celebrity father says. “You just have to know yourself well enough to know what’s important,” Omari adds. “And when you do that, things just don’t get in your way. You don’t allow them to.”
