Viola Davis and her daughter, Genesis Tennon, were two of many in attendance at the premiere of Amazon Studios’ Troop Zero this past Monday (January 13). The screening was held in Los Angeles. Viola was giving the cameras all the love along with her daughter.
Troop Zero is all about a misfit whose dream of life in outer space is considered outlandish in rural 1970s Georgia. Keeping a determined girl down is impossible as this young girl takes advantage of the possibility of participating in a NASA competition. It is her one shot to exhibit her passion. How will all of this end?
Viola Davis stars in Troop Zero as Miss Rayleen. The celebrity mom recently spoke with Variety about her role in the film. “This is not a movie where I would think I’d be the person whose name would automatically pop up,” Davis admitted. The actress went on to tell the press that one of her main objectives as an artist is to portray roles that advocate for true diversity.
“I personally want people of color to be seen as the complicated people that we are,” Davis told Variety. “I think, sometimes, that who we are is watered down to get butts in seats,” she concluded.
Fans of Viola Davis can see her as Miss Rayleen in Troop Zero on the Amazon Prime platform this Friday. Stay tuned for more celebrity family news!
