It was a sad day indeed when Toys R Us closed its doors for the final time. The toy giant had been a major influence in the market for generations and unquestionably left a void for shoppers. Well, with the help of a competitor, they are making a comeback, just in time for the holidays!
Target recently announced that they are partnering with Toys R Us’ parent company, Tru Kids, in order to relaunch ToysRUs.com. And of course, this is big news for Toys R Us. In addition to having an internet presence this season, they have also started opening smaller stores under their new post-bankruptcy models. The retailer will open what they call “an innovative play experience” called the “Toys R Us Adventure.” This new model will be an “immersive toy wonderland,” created in collaboration with the same team that brought the world the famous Candytopia pop-up.
But that is not all, additionally, they will open two permanent stores in the Galleria Mall in Houston, Texas and the Garden City Plaza in Paramus, N.J., this October.
Toys R Us closed its doors in 2018 due to bankruptcy. Eight hundred stores across the country were shut down due to the giants financial woes. The store’s new parent company, TruKids, is also partnering with other brands, including software retailer b8ta, Target, and Candytopia, to rethink the Toys R Us experience.
