Danny Glover’s son, Legend, is just like the rest of us-counting down until June 19th when the live-action remake of The Lion King is in theaters worldwide. You would think that Glover’s son is excited to see the movie because of his father’s role as the voice of Simba, but that’s not necessarily it.
On Jimmy Kimmel Live!, 35-year-old Glover recounts his son’s reaction to knowing that he was in the film. “And he was like, ‘Oh sure. Beyonce’s in it, right?’ And I was like, ‘How did you know that? But also, daddy’s in it. I’m in it, too,'” Glover said to his son. Legend was not as impressed by his father’s role in the upcoming anticipated blockbuster as much as he was about Queen B.
Glover, a fan of Beyonce himself, joked that he didn’t want to be in the same room with the songstress when they recorded “Can You Feel the Love Tonight. “I did not want to be looking into Beyoncé’s eyes while doing this.” Luckily, he got his wish due to the fact that they had to record the song separately as a result of packed work schedules. But, the star didn’t miss out on seeing the royal couple when he stopped for a bite to eat.
“[My partner and I] talked for like about 10 minutes,” he recalled about spotting Beyoncé and Jay Z in their favorite pizza place. “We’re like ‘Are you going to say something? Go say something. No, you say something. You’re the famous one….’ It was like 10 minutes and then you go over, and you’re like, ‘Oh hey!’ And then you’re like, ‘What are you doing here? I didn’t see you.'”
We think that Glover’s style choice for Jimmy Kimmel Live! was the perfect nod to what is bound to become the movie of the summer box office!
