Those who have been waiting for Ciara’s seventh studio album to arrive do not have to wait any longer. The celebrity mom released her new record, called Beauty Marks, and an accompanying music video just in time for Mother’s Day.
Beauty Marks has hit songs such as “Level Up” and “Thinkin Bout You.” Of course, the culmination of the album comes in the form of “Beauty Marks.” The song serves as a tribute to Ciara’s husband, Russell Wilson, who met the singer at a difficult time.
Ciara had ended her engagement with her son’s father, Nayvadius Cash, after allegations of his infidelity reached an all-time high. Instead of jumping into a new relationship, Ciara decided to take some time for herself. Within a few months of such a decision, Russell Wilson came along.
“My mantra throughout the process of recording this album was about reminding myself that the scars you get from going through life are actually your beauty marks,” Ciara said of her new album in a press release. “Adversity ends up giving you wisdom and character, and persevering through all those challenges makes you so much stronger,” the singer added. “This album is about celebrating the journey that leads you to those Beauty Mark moments.”
Ciara’s new album is the first under her record label, Beauty Marks Entertainment. The singer shared her vision for the company during a recent interview with Billboard.
“The mantra of the company is that all the scars we get from the obstacles we face in life are beauty marks,” Ciara shared. “When you go through adversities and face challenges, embrace them because they make us who we are. They give us the wisdom we need to survive,” she explained.
“Sometimes you don’t know it’s happening but those tough moments build your character,” Ciara added. “They give you wisdom and so you have to embrace those moments because they really turn out to be beauty marks.”
