Michael Love is one high school senior determined to defy the odds. He does what others claim is impossible, with his most recent achievement being acceptance to 41 colleges. Read on to learn about this extraordinary teen!
“I got told a lot when I was younger, I couldn’t do this, I couldn’t do that,” Michael tells ABC 13. “So I just wanted to show people I’m better than what they think I am.”
Love, a senior at Detroit’s Cornerstone Health and Technology High School, channeled his determination throughout his high school years and decided to apply to 50 colleges and universities this past fall.
“I thought he was crazy when he told me he was applying to so many schools,” Micole Ewing, Michael’s mother, says. It certainly was not a matter of Michael lacking in candidacy. The high school senior is, after all, a member of his school’s varsity basketball team. Michel is also a member of the National Honor Society.
Micole, perhaps, considered 50 schools a bit of a stretch. The high school senior’s mom changed her perspective when the acceptance letters began to come in the mail. “Every time I open up a letter, I jumped up and down, we praised God and everything. I’m super proud of him,” Ewing says.
Not only has Michael received offers from 41 colleges, but a few of the schools have offered him lucrative scholarships. One college even offered the high school senior a full ride. “Once he told me, my mouth just dropped. I just started crying,” Michael’s mom says.
In all, Michael Love received the possibility of $300,000 in scholarships. You may want to keep the name of Michael Love in your memory bank. This kid is going places!
