Cam Newton’s kids are teaching him many things about life. The celebrity father tells media how he is learning how to be a better loser.
“I owe a lot to my kids,” Cam shares with the press. “Surprisingly it’s [11-year-old stepdaughter] Shakira, the oldest [who teaches me a lot about losing with grace]. I see a lot of how I act, they see it and think it’s acceptable [to be a sore loser]. Even though it’s hard for me, I realize I have an obedience to be there for my children and teach them life lessons.”
Cam Newton’s ability to show good sportsmanship in the face of loss has been tested on several occasions these past few weeks. The Panthers have lost three games in a row, which is the most that the team has lost since 2016.

In fact, it was in 2016 that Cam Newton was unapologetically firm on his stance of there being zero to celebrate when one loses. “Who likes to lose,” Cam asked during the press conference. “You show me a good loser and I’m going to show you a loser,” he continued.
Newton got so irritated by the notion of one being satisfied with losses that he accused media of disliking him because of his cultural background. “I know why you hate me,” the sports player said. “I am an African-American quarterback that scares people because they haven’t seen nothing that they can compare me to.”
Kids are really turning out to be something of a blessing for Cam Newton. The star athlete parents four children – Shakira, Chosen, Sovereign-Dior, and Camidas – with his longtime girlfriend, Kia Proctor. Stay tuned for more celebrity family news!
