Yara Shahidi is definitely the epitome of #girlpower. She is an actress, model, activist, and definite fashion icon, that serves as an example for young women of not only her generation but many to come.
Recently, Shahidi attended the #girlhero Award Luncheon at SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA.
At the inaugural event for Girl Up, Shahidi made a fashion statement for sure sporting a look off of the 2019 Carolina Herrera Spring Fashion runway.
The luncheon was emceed by Shaun Robinson and Monique Coleman. Shahidi was honored during the luncheon for her inspiring activism with Generation Z. Shahidi told The Hollywood Reporter that she was honored to be among “my community of people who are making stuff happen.” During her award acceptance speech, she talked about being influenced by the matriarchies that have served as an example in her life. “It’s very easy right now, especially given our socio-political landscape, to think that being a girl is to be told what not to do. What is evident in this room is to be a girl is to be a universe of sorts, to be ever-expansive.”
Congratulations, Yara! We are celebrating this honor with you!
