With mid-term elections right around the corner and the big contest gearing up for the White House in 2020, many stars and political advocates are kicking-it up a notch, to secure the vote for their favorite candidates. One such star that is leading the charge for Generation Z is Grown-ish’s Yara Shahidi.
The 18-year-old advocate recently announced the #WeVoteNext Summit, a conference that will gather all young leaders from across the nation in order to educate and inspire one of the most important demographics in the nation. Hosted by Shahidi’s non-profit Eighteen x 18, will be held on September 29th at the TOMS headquarters in Los Angles, CA.
“We are calling our generation together before the midterm elections, so we can make sure that we have the tools and knowledge necessary to generate the largest youth voter turnout in history!” said Shahidi in a statement about the conference. “Whether it’s immigration, gun violence, climate change, criminal justice reform or student debt, our generation will hold our elected officials accountable this November.”
The summit will feature hands-on workshops, interactive panels, and guest speakers, providing a powerful experience for participants. Eighteen x 18 was founded by Shahidi in order to educate and engage the next generation of voters in the U.S. through the power of creative storytelling.
