Laiyah’s birthday bash was everything that she probably imagined. The 5-year-old’s cake was certainly a sight to behold as it had several tiers that were colorful and creative in their appeal. Some fans had a problem with the live snake that found its way around Monica’s neck during the party. “No ma’am,” one fan exclaimed. “Not the snake!” Another photo was of Laiyah gently petting a turtle. “Your kids must love reptiles,” one Instagram follower said.
Monica Brown commented on the things that she values the most in life during an interview with Biz Journals. “I value different things coming from the South,” she explained. “If you look on my social media pages, you’ll see my kids, my family and you’ll see me talk about the people I love, the God I love, the kids I love and the things I do outside of music.”
As for her career as a recording artist, “It chose me when I was 12 years old,” Monica explained. “I just like singing and as your life changes, I think some people can find some sense of hope in your honesty. Everything is not perfect for me. I go through stuff just like anybody else but I’m open about it and I think that’s what keeps us connected.”
Laiyah is Monica and husband Shannon Brown’s only child together. Monica has three kids in all.
