Niecy Nash is doing big things with her daughter, Dia Nash, by her side. The mother and daughter are working together on the set of the hit series Claws.
Dia, who made her debut in the series, portrays a teen Desna Simms. Niecy Nash, of course, is the grownup version of the character.
Niecy took to Instagram to celebrate her daughter’s acting debut this past weekend. “Look who’s playing Teen Desna,” the proud mom exclaimed. “Go, Dia!!! They were seeing girls to play Desna and I told Dia she should go in for it. ‘Let me help you with the audition,’ I said. Her reply? ‘I’m good. I will go over it with my acting coach’. Me: ‘My baby is growing up.’ She booked it on her own.” How exciting is that?

Niecy Nash recently discussed the dynamics of Claws that places women in roles typically carved out for men. “The very first script I read was so delicious, and when I finished it I could not wait to find out what happened next,” she said of her role on the show. “These are women who are cool and flawed and unapologetic and fun and sexy. And they have sex for their own pleasure. It’s a role that’s typically reserved for men.”
