Yara Shahidi, in addition to being a world-class actress and fashionista, is an ardent political force for Generation Z. Her voice and activism encourages others to listen up and take action to change the world. Recently, the 18-year-old soon-to-be Harvard freshman has teamed up with social news publisher NowThis, to get the word out about Eighteen x 18, a content partnership that will run through the mid-term November 2018 elections, educating young people to get out and vote.
The campaign will run across all NowThis channels including Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, and Twitter.
“It’s more clear than ever that young people have both social and political power in our country,” Shahidi said in a statement, “and it’s so important that everyone turning 18 this year engages in the political process.”
NowThis president Athan Stephanopoulos said in a statement that, “Yara is an incredible influence and a leader among her peers, and we couldn’t be more excited to partner with her to bring Eighteen x 18 to our young and engaged audience.”
And we couldn’t agree more. November is seven months away and this year, mid-term elections are just as important as ever. If you are turning 18, be ready to make your voice heard at the polls.
