Is LeBron James eyeing retirement? Possibly so, maybe no. The NBA star recently told media that his kids would be the only reason he’d stop playing the game professionally within the next few years.
“The only thing is with my kids getting older, that’s the only thing that kind of stops me from going as long as I would like to,” LeBron told the press. “I’ve got a 13-year-old son now,” the basketball player continued. “He’s in the seventh grade. He’s a d*mn good basketball player, too. On this road trip, I’ve already missed four of his games. That’s the thing that kind of sucks.”
We’ve seen clips of LeBron Jr. playing ball among his peers. The rising young star had his father on the sidelines cheering him on and, of course, analyzing his every move on the court.
“I’ll foul the sh*t out of him,” LeBron mused when asked about the possibility of competing against his son in the NBA during an interview last year. “I’d give him all six fouls. I’d foul the sh*t out of Bronny, man,” the celebrity father joked.
All comedy aside, it seems like James may be thinking of trading in his jersey and traveling on the road with the team for extra time spent at home with kids. “The daddy side kicks in sometimes,” he told the press. “That will be a deciding factor in how long I will play.” LeBron and his wife, Savannah James, have three children together.
