The 2017 Looking Ahead Awards were held earlier this week, and Holly Robinson-Peete took time to honor her mother, Dolores Robinson. The celebrity mom presented her mom with the Judy & Hilary Swank Award for Parenting.
The Judy & Hilary Swank Award for Parenting is derived from Hilary Swank who has made quite the impact in Hollywood since launching her career several years ago. Hilary has supported nearly 20 foundations including UNICEF, AIDS Life, and Cinema for Peace. The celebrity has also given support to the PETCO Foundation and Best Friends Animal Society. Her success is grand, but Hilary attributes much of her progress to her mom, Judy Swank. Such is the reason why the actress presented her mom with an award a few years back that is now called the Judy & Hilary Swank Award.
Holly’s spirit embodied what the award was all about earlier this week as she proudly presented the honor to her mom. “About last night,” Peete told her Instagram fans after the ceremony concluded. “So proud of my mom @doloresrobinson. She received the #JudyAndHilarySwankAward for parenting in show business! Thank you to the @theactorsfund #LookingAheadAwards and to our glam squad and #meetthepeetes crew who came with us.”
Dolores has established a career as both an actress and producer. Her more recent projects include the reality series, For Peete’s Sake, which gives fans an inside look at what life is like for Holly and her family.
Holly Robinson-Peete wrote a beautiful tribute to her mother in an essay written for ESSENCE in 2013. “As a mother of four active children between the ages of 8 and 16, I can use every ounce of extra help that comes my way. I count myself lucky in this respect because I know I can depend on my mother, Dolores, to swoop in and save the day when life gets hectic,” Holly said. “I am beyond grateful that my mother, who is a cancer survivor, is healthy, happy and shares herself so generously with my children.”
