Little Miss Flint Amariyanna ‘Mari’ Copeny, known for her activism in helping to make sure that the residents of Flint, Michigan have available drinking water, is back at it again. The tenacious ten-year-old has partnered with the Pack Your Back organization to make sure that Flint students have all they need to go back to school.
“I wanted to make sure kids got the best start possible to the school year and for their parents to not have to worry about having to buy supplies,” Copeny said in a recent interview with Essence Magazine.
#PackYourBackChallenge was a success. Every single child that came got a backpack and supplies. Over 1,000 students helped today. pic.twitter.com/BcV65hmrMM

Last year Copeny started the #packyourbackchallenge on Twitter and was able to fill 100 backpacks for students with essential school supplies. This year, she accepted the challenge to go bigger and raised nearly $10,000 online for her mission and was able to fill more than 1,000 backpacks.
