Gap Inc, one of America’s most popular retailers has teamed up with Philadelphia school teacher, Jasmyn Wright to adapt her “Push Through” viral chant into their an inspirational back-to-school commercial, empowering kids to “push through” when the going gets tough.
Wright, a school teacher at Frederick Douglass Mastery Charter school, developed the chant to uplift her students’ spirits during the 2016 presidential election, letting them know that there is nothing that they cannot do.
Wright first posted the video on Facebook and of course the original video went viral and captured the attention of millions, including the worldwide retailer.
In the Gap commercial spot, Wright and her students are shown doing their normal morning routines and then she starts asking her students “what if” questions and they answer, “I’m gonna push through!”
Wright admits that she didn’t expect to receive such worldwide recognition for simply wanting to inspire her students to push on because they are smart. Wright set out to change the lives of a few and has unquestionably changed the lives of millions. Well done!
