1. She doesn’t have it all figured out.
After Ayesha and husband Stephen Curry were criticized for allowing their then-2-year-old daughter Riley to attend an NBA press conference, Ayesha didn’t go on the defense too hard. In a piece she wrote for Time, the mom-of-two said, “My husband and I are, after all, two young parents in our twenties with a 2-year-old daughter, Riley, and another child on the way. We’re just trying to figure it all out.” Aren’t we all, Ayesha?
2. Her kids come first.
In that same piece, Ayesha admits that, while Riley’s appearance at the press conference was an of-the-moment decision—and while some didn’t approve—she still thinks it was the right move. “Stephen attends practice every day, and gives his all during the games on an almost-nightly basis,” she wrote. “When that’s over, all he wants is to see his family, and on the day of that press conference, our daughter wanted to be with her father. I thought it was beautiful for him not to push his daddy duties to the bottom of the list just because all eyes were on him. I believe you should let your children be children, and don’t be afraid to be a parent, regardless of who’s watching.”
3. She admits life was simple before kids.
Like most moms, now that she has kids, Ayesha now realizes just how luxurious life was when she was childless. Children of course bring an immeasurable amount of joy to their parents’ lives, but man! They require a lot of work. “The amount of stuff you get done in a day is insane,” the cookbook author told Parents. “Like, what were we doing with our time before kids? I feel like I should have invented something. Also, it’s an event to get all four of us out of the house at once. When we get in the car and we’ve brought everything and everybody has socks on, it’s like a dream come true.” Word.
4. She likes sharing photos of her kids online—but she and husband Stephen discuss before posting.
Every parent of a toddler or preschooler knows tantrums are sometimes unavoidable—and celeb moms are no different. “Riley and ice queen! Sooo nothing is ever perfect. Exhibit A we had an absolute meltdown pre show due to my girl growing at the speed of light!” Ayesha confessed to fans on social media. “Her leotard was wayyyyyyy to tight and irritating her. I had to find a pair of scissors at the restaurant a cut the leotard. Said leotard would then not stay in the skirt and my poor baby looked like she was wearing a crop top. Aweeeeesome. And I forgot to put Deodorant on. Real life stuff right here.” Ayesha could have easily left this caption off of this photo in favor of a heart emoji. But she didn’t. And that’s why we love her.
