Chance the Rapper is here to remind us all to be mindful of our own affairs and reject negativity that comes our way. The recording artist recently took to Instagram with his daughter, Kensli, and child’s mother, Kirsten Corley, to diffuse rumors of him and Kirsten going to court over child support issues.
“Just a friendly reminder: don’t let anybody get between you and your family,” Chance told fans. Kirsten shook her head in agreeance with what her child’s father was saying. “Don’t be afraid of what people are saying about you. Do your job and everything will be fine,” the rapper added.
It was just a few days ago that Mary Mitchell of the Chicago Sun-Times slammed Chance the Rapper for donating $1 million to Chicago’s public schools all while allegedly ignoring the needs of his daughter.
“If this personal issue is handled callously in the public, Chance the Rapper’s clean-cut image could take a big hit,” Mary wrote. “After all, you can’t hand out money to benefit children you don’t know and come off looking like you are being stingy when it comes to your own child.”
Several fans and media outlets came to Chance’s defense. TMZ even expressed disgust over the obvious jab. “When a guy steps out like that and addresses a problem in the area that people want to seem to ignore … For somebody from around that way to come in and criticize that and find something negative to pick out of it, it’s kind of disgusting to me,” Van Lathan said.
Chance the Rapper and Kirsten are great examples of healthy co-parenting. The former couple often takes pictures together despite residing in separate residences. Both Chance and Kirsten shower their daughter with immense love, and the celebrity father often shares pictures and video of his precious little one. Kensli celebrates her second birthday this year.
