It is no wonder why on February 23, 2017 at the Beverly Wilshire Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA, Essence Magazine honored Shahidi and more at the 10th Annual Essence Black Women in Hollywood Awards & Gala. Shahidi, along with honorees Janelle Monae, Issa Rae, Aja Naomi King, received the “Generation Next” award, as they carry on the torch for the next generation of Hollywood elite.
