Eighteen-year-old Selena Forrest is well on her way to becoming a supermodel in her own right. Signed by Next Models, she has walked the runway for some of the biggest names in the industry, continuing to expand her ever-growing resume. Her persona makes her a beloved figure in the industry but her curls make her fierce.
It would seem that with the amount of luscious locks gracing the runway these days that stylists would know how to properly care for and protect all models manes, right? Well wrong!
Recently Forrest took to Instagram, coining the hashtag phrase, #curlyhairmatters, in reference to having her edges burnt off during this year’s NYFW. Although many models can be seen rocking the runway with their natural hair ablaze, there are still a few moments that remind us that we have a ways to go in terms of haircare education for others and inclusion of more black hairstylists in the industry.
