Biracial twins Kalani and Jarani Meyer, born on April 23, 2016, have taken the internet by storm with more than their overwhelming cuteness.
When Whitney Meyer first gave birth to the girls, she herself was taken aback. “I asked the doctor why Kalani’s skin was so white!” she told Us Weekly in an interview. “I couldn’t figure out why she looked so different from her sister.”
Well, one reason the girls look different is genetics. 25-year-old Meyer is white and her boyfriend, Tomas Dean is black. While extremely rare, interracial couples expecting twins have a 1 and 500 chance that their children will be born with different skin tones. Kalani looks like mom with fairer skin and blue eyes while Jarani looks like dad with darker skin and brown eyes.
“No one believes they’re twins,” Meyer tells Us. “When we go out in public, people will start looking at them because I dress them identical and I can tell they’re confused.”
Meyer goes on to say in the interview that the girls “…are [her] miracle babies. J looks exactly like her brother did. They are identical. When I look at pictures of J, I see Pravyn.” Meyer lost her 2-year-old son, Pravyn in a drowning accident.
No matter what, these two are definitely beautiful!
