Cree Summer and her daughters, Hero and Brave, are joining the fight for women’s rights. The actress and her girls are making preparations to march alongside millions of women in this year’s Women’s March.
Cree uploaded a video on Instagram in which she told fans why she was opting to march on Saturday. The actress’ daughters were two central reasons why Cree chose to join the movement.
“I look at their strong, powerful little bodies and I’ll be damned if anyone’s going to deny them the rights to themselves,” the actress shared in the video. Hero and Brave accompanied their mom and screamed, “We rock!” in affirmation of Cree’s speech.
The Women’s March on Washington event was created in response to President-elect Donald Trump’s surprise victory in November. According to the movement’s organizers, “The Women’s March on Washington is a women-led movement bringing together people of all genders, ages, races, cultures, political affiliations and backgrounds in our nation’s capital … to affirm our shared humanity and pronounce our bold message of resistance and self-determination.”
The rally is meant to be a starting point to defend women’s rights that many believe will come under attack with the incoming administration. Organizers hope that the upcoming march will start a dialogue that influences Capitol Hill.
Cree Summer is the proud mother of two children who she affectionately calls ‘The Savages.’ Hero is the youngest of the two who celebrates her fourth birthday later this month. Brave turns 6-years-old in March.
