J.R. Smith and wife Jewel Harris are asking for prayers after their daughter, Dakota, was born five months before her expected due date. The celebrity couple shared some of their family’s challenges with fans this past weekend.
“We decided to share with the world what’s been going on with our family, the past five days,” Jewel told Uninterrupted viewers. “We know a lot of you guys congratulated us on the expectancy of our little baby girl, but we had her five months early,” the NBA star’s wife revealed.
“She’s five days old today and her name is Dakota, and she weighs one pound,” Jewel continued. “We know we’re not the only family going through this, who has been through this, and who will ever go through it; that’s why we decided to share what we’re going through with you guys. Please keep us in your prayers.”
Jewel and J.R. Smith shared news of their expectancy last October. “We’re having another baby,” J.R. told fans who were already ecstatic about his extended contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Dakota is Jewel and J.R. Smith’s third child. The couple also has two daughters named Demi and Peyton together.
