Chris Rock and his daughter, Zahara, stopped by Z100’s Jingle Ball 2016 at Madison Square Garden this past weekend. The celebrity father and his daughter took on the casual appeal as they posed for pictures on the red carpet.
Chris and his daughter also took center stage at the event. The comedian had a few words for the crowd as his daughter stood by his side.
It has been a few months since Chris Rock finalized his divorce from Malaak Compton. The terms of the former couple’s marriage dissolution came after nearly two years of proceedings. Chris and Malaak announced intentions to divorce near the latter part of 2014 with the hope of proceedings being swift and simple.
Chris later told media that the pain of divorce is real. “Some days are better than others, some days you’re sad outta your f****g mind,” he shared with The Guardian last year. “But my daughters are good and I’m only an hour away. Two houses close by. It’s good.”
Malaak also released a statement about her and Chris’ separation. “After much contemplation and 19 years of marriage, Chris and I have decided to go our separate ways,” she said. “Being fortunate enough to lead a life of service by working with those most vulnerable makes me well aware of life’s blessings, even when faced with difficulties,” Malaak added.
The celebrity mom further explained, “While recognizing that this is a significant change, my children remain at the center of my life and their well-being is my top priority. It is in this spirit that I sincerely ask that their privacy and the privacy of our family be respected during this transition in our lives.”
Malaak and Chris Rock are the proud parents of two children.
