Election 2016 shocked the masses with Republican nominee Donald Trump grasping enough electoral votes to gain the presidency over Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. Many celebrity parents in Hollywood were taken by surprise by the results but Van Jones of CNN summed up the night’s occurrences best.
“People have talked about a miracle ― I’m hearing about a nightmare,” he began. “It’s hard to be a parent tonight for a lot of us. You tell your kids, ‘Don’t be a bully.’ You tell your kids, ‘Don’t be a bigot.’ You tell your kids, ‘Do your homework and be prepared.’ Then you have this outcome, and you have people putting children to bed tonight and they’re afraid of breakfast,” he continued.
Van Jones went on to explain the impact that the election had on minority communities. “This was a whitelash against a changing country,” he said. “Donald Trump has a responsibility tonight to come out and assure people that he is going to be the president of all the people he insulted and offended and brushed aside,” the correspondent added.
Van Jones is the proud father of two sons, Cabral and Mattai. The celebrity father’s book, Rebuild the Dream (2012), has earned national acclaim for its excellent craftsmanship and insight. Jones’ most recent book, The Grinder’s Guidebook: 12 Steps To Significant and Sustainable Success (2015) empowers the reader to fulfill his goals through planning and hard work.
