Michael Strahan is known by many for his athletic prowess, beaming wide smile, his designer look, and TV presence. But what many don’t know, or at times forget, is that Strahan is also father to four children—Tanita (24), Michael Jr. (21), and twins Isabella and Sophia (12).
“My kids couldn’t care less about what I do,” Strahan tells PEOPLE Magazine, in his cover interview on newsstands this Friday. ” And to me, it’s all about family now more than anything.”
Strahan commented to the magazine that he didn’t realize that he could be successful as a professional athlete; however, his parents did. “I never knew I could accomplish so much. But my parents never act surprised. They look at me as if there’s no limit. That helped me feel like there’s no limit. I didn’t know what I was doing,” Strahan recalls. “But because my dad never said ‘if’ or ‘possibly,’ ” – he said, ‘This is gonna happen’ – I said okay.”
And that’s the type of parenting and family involvement that Strahan is shooting for. “My goal is not to be famous,” he states. “My goal is to enjoy doing what I do and do it well, and make my family, kids, parents proud. Let’s see where life goes after that.”
