Diezel Braxton-Lewis is one who has conquered autism, according to Toni Braxton. The singer tells Access Hollywood that her youngest son shows no signs of the disorder.
“Early diagnosis changes everything,” Braxton says. “My son Diezel was off the spectrum being autistic. Suzanne Wright, who unfortunately just passed, She called me immediately and said, ‘Get him in this program, do this, do that.'”
Immediate action paid off. “[He has] no signs of autism [now],” Toni Braxton shares. “No signs. He’s our social butterfly. He’s the one who plays with friends and hangs out all the time. I’m very, very fortunate.”
Braxton has been an advocate for autism awareness since learning of her son’s diagnosis several years ago. “As a parent, you always feel, ‘Was there something I could have done differently’,” she said during a candid conversation. “But what I’ve come to understand through my friends at Autism Speaks, is there is nothing wrong with our babies, and it’s nothing you’ve done or you could have done differently, it’s just what the situation is.”
Toni Braxton has two kids, Diezel and Denim, with ex-husband Keri Lewis. The singer will be on the road in coming weeks on her “Greatest Hits” tour.
