She’s a working girl! Sasha Obama has landed a summer job at a seafood restaurant and she is the first smiling face that guests see.
Sasha works at the takeout window at Nancy’s on Martha’s Vineyard. The youngest daughter of President and First Lady Obama surprised many customers and employees on her first day who saw her dressed in full uniform and ready to work. “We were wondering why there were six people helping this girl, but then we found out who it was,” a server told media. “She’s been hosting, serving and working takeout. We’re happy to have her. It will probably be good for business.”
Sasha is following in her sister Malia’s footsteps by entering the working world as a teenager. Malia interned as a production assistant on the set of Extant in 2014. She served in the same capacity on the set of Girls the following year.
First Lady Michelle Obama has expressed great pride in her daughters and their ability to handle the spotlight well. “I am very proud of those two and how they’ve managed this situation and how they have continued to be themselves, regular little girls just trying to figure it out,” Mrs. Obama said. “Every day I cross my fingers and hope that I’m doing right by them, and I’m providing them with a good foundation so that they can be great people.”
Sasha will finish out her high school years in Washington D.C. despite her father finishing out his final term as president this year. Malia will begin her freshman year at Harvard University next year.
