It’s the moment that every parents fears. The moment when the media hands your daughter the mic and she completely roasts you in front of thousands of viewers. Such scene was J.R. Smith’s reality on Thursday night.
A sports reporter asked the Cavaliers player’s daughter, Demi, to share her sentiments about her father playing in the NBA Championship series. Demi’s response? “I’m just proud of him because he made the championships without getting kicked off the team.” Wow!
J.R. has experienced a few challenges during his career as a basketball player. The star player was even deemed by the masses as one who hit rock bottom in 2014. Smith, however, has managed to turn things around these past few months and be a key contributor to the Cavaliers’ success this season.
Still, Demi wants to ensure that her father stays the course. “That’s my daughter,” J.R. said in response to his daughter’s comment. “That right there is maturity coming,” he added. “That right there is why I sacrificed and do what I’ve been doing since I got to Cleveland. Everything I do is for her, honestly. I try to be the best role model I can be on and off the court.”
J.R. Smith has two daughters, Demi and Peyton. Check out Demi’s viral interview below!
