There’s another star athlete in the Rose family. P.J., son of NBA player Derrick Rose, threw the first pitch at Sunday’s Pirates-Cubs game at Wrigley Field.
The little one was a bit nervous at the ceremony’s beginning. P.J. waited on the sidelines with mom and dad and headed for the field when his name was called. The youngster was doing well until he looked around and saw the stadium filled with cheering fans. It was then that P.J. decided to retreat back to the sidelines where his mom, Mieka Reese encouraged him to conquer fear. “You got this,” she said. Derrick gave his son additional support and even carried him to the field’s center for the special throw.
P.J. did a spectacular job in the end as he used all of his might to throw the ball. The youngster wasn’t interested in remaining in the spotlight after giving the first pitch, though.
The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Chicago Cubs in Sunday’s game. The final score was 2-1. P.J. is Derrick Rose and Mieka Reese’s only child.
