JENNIFER HUDSON RENDERS FINAL PERFORMANCE IN ‘THE COLOR PURPLE’ WITH FAMILY’S SUPPORT

It was the final curtain call for Jennifer Hudson as she rendered her last performance in The Color Purple on Broadway this past weekend. The actress had her fiance, David Otunga, and son, David Jr., by her side.

Jennifer waved at fellow cast members before exiting the theatre with her family. Adoring fans were waiting outside of the venue to congratulate her on a job well done.

The Color Purple has received much acclaim since making its debut on Broadway several months ago. The show received several 2016 Tony Award nominations that include Best Musical Revival and Best Director in reference to John Doyle’s impeccable work.

Hudson portrayed the beloved Shug Avery for several performances before announcing her departure from the show a few weeks ago. Heather Headley, who is a Tony Award recipient, will replace Jennifer as Avery beginning with the May 10th show.
