The ladies of ‘The Real’ get candid about pregnancy. Jeannie Mae introduced the subject of freezing eggs and embryos during Tuesday’s show and co-host Tamar Braxton got frank about the process.
“I’m 37. I know I’m not getting any younger and I know if I was going to have a kid, I should decide now, today, 5 minutes ago,” Jeannie said. Tamar agreed before letting her fellow host continue. “I’ve decided I’m going to start thinking about freezing my eggs,” Mai concluded.
While Braxton agreed with Jeannie’s decision, the co-host advised her to talk things over with her husband, Freddy Harteis, before undergoing any procedure. “I just find that this is not just a conversation for you to have with your girlfriends; this is a conversation for you to go real deep with your husband,” Tamar told her friend.
The ‘Love and War’ singer also shared her struggles with infertility and IVF treatments. “I went through IVF,” Tamar said. “You don’t know what’s happening with your body and there are some changes that’s going to happen with your body, but you just have to know that they’re not permanent changes,” she added. “These are changes that’s going to prepare you to carry your baby and let me tell you something.”
In addition to undergoing IVF, Tamar decided to freeze her embryos. “We decided that I wouldn’t just freeze my eggs, but we would freeze our embryos and I don’t know if you all know that I have 4 ‘kids in the freezer’ okay.”
Surprisingly enough, Tamar’s son, Logan, was born by way of natural conception. “I didn’t have a popsicle Logan,” Tamar shared. “I had the real one, like we went on the date, got drunk and what happened was ….that…..yeah!”
Logan is Tamar and husband Vincent Herbert’s only child. Watch the ladies discuss embryos and “freezing eggs” below, and check your local listings for the latest episode of ‘The Real.’
