Amandla Stenberg is one of four young star’s to model for Stella McCartney’s new fragrance, Pop. The designer tells media that it was an honor working with Stenberg and the other girls.
“They’re all great young girls, and the exciting thing is if you don’t know who they are, you want to know who they are,” Stella says of the girls’ contagious excitement. “You will want to follow their careers and see them grow and hear what they have to say. That was really important for me, to have a group of young women who can come together as one, but at the same time they can stand alone. It’s a real, very personal casting. We wanted to try and set a precedent for a new way to look at beauty, and a new way to just talk about how young women are allowed to be.”
Amandla certainly serves as a role model to her peers. The teen’s speeches and tweets about racial equality are particularly popular since her comments came at a time when many were protesting the questionable deaths of several African American men and women who died while in the custody of law enforcement.
Pop makes its debut in Sephora stores nationwide and in Stella McCartney’s online store.
