Few people can make Nicki Minaj cry. Ariana Neal is one of those few. The 11-year-old will star in the upcoming series Nicki where she will portray Minaj as a child.
“I literally cried watching her taped audition,” Minaj shared on Instagram a few days ago. “I demanded to meet her! Sat in a room with her teaching her how to rap by doing a beat on the table and forcing her to stay on beat! Lol. Then pulled out all the attitude she had in her lil body. Haha! She’s tough! And so sweet & cute. #ArianaNeal #LilNicki Welcome to the family lil lady bug!”
This isn’t the first time Ariana will be on camera. The tween starred in CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story as a young Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes a few years ago, and alongside Forrest Whitaker in Repentence as Francesa Sanchez.
Ariana’s role in Nicki will be less dramatic as the show is poised to have a more comedic side. The focus will be on Minaj’s move from Trinidad to the United States during the 1990s. Fans will get to see how the star adjusted to living in New York, and the roads that she took to fame. “This is one of the more unique adventures I’ve ever embarked on,” says Nicki of the series. “I couldn’t be more proud and excited to team up with an amazing group of people to give the world something really special.”
Nicki will make its television debut on ABC Family in coming weeks.
