Holly Robinson Peete was overcome with emotion as her son RJ Peete gave a moving speech at the Steve & Marjorie Harvey Foundation Gala on May 16, 2015 in Chicago, Illinois.
R.J. stood tall while talking about his mom and her charity efforts in front of party guests. The young adult, who is living proof that autism is conquerable, was a bit nervous but pressed through.
Holly couldn’t hold back the tears while watching her son speak. She later thanked Dwyane Wade and other attendees for their support. “Thank you @dwyanewade for being so lovely to my RJ,” shared the actress on Instagram. “He was so nervous to make a speech about his mommy but YOU and the whole room were so gracious!”
R.J. presented his mom with the ‘Helping Hands’ award for her many efforts in spreading awareness about autism. The celebrity mom has formed her own non-profit organization, HollyRod Foundation, and participated in several charity efforts that seek to give hope to parents of children living with autism.
Although Steve and Marjorie missed their foundation’s gala due to their daughter, Lori, being involved in a horse-riding accident, they would have been proud to see R.J. doting on his mom in public. Holly and husband Rodney Peete have four kids together. R.J. is the couple’s oldest son.
