Robin Givens was accompanied by her son Billy to this year’s Women Who Care Awards Luncheon in New York City on Thursday. The event benefited the United Cerebral Palsy of New York foundation, which works hard to create opportunities for individuals living with disabilities.
The charity is part of a network of organizations that seek to provide better care for individuals diagnosed with cerebral palsy. The New York branch offers clinical services as well as resources to parents of children living with palsy.
The organization also has a program that focuses on independence with reference to accessibility in public. In particular, the ‘Doorways to Independence’ initiative has sought out ways to improve the quality of living for all disabled residents of New York City. The action plan has created wider pathways in some of the city’s most populated areas so that wheelchair-bound citizens can better navigate around the region while running errands and visiting friends.
Robin Givens serves as the co-chair for Women Who Care, and joined others in honoring the United Cerebral Palsy of New York foundation for its efforts. The actress’ son Billy is her only child with tennis player Murphy Jensen. Robin also has a son named Buddy whom she adopted in 1993.
