Candace Parker and Lailaa Williams are a team. The WNBA star expresses her love for her daughter in Time magazine’s ‘Letters From Mom’ segment.
“For as long as I can remember, I have dreamed of being a mother,” writes Candace in her sweet letter to Lailaa. “Life stood still from the moment I heard your first heartbeats and felt your first kicks. May 13, 2009 really rocked my world,” shares the star.
Parker goes on to talk about her daughter’s maturity level, which is simply mind-blowing. “You travel from country to country following your parents’ career without a blink of an eye,” says the star. Although Lailaa has her “spoiled” moments like any other child her age, her immense joy overwhelms her mother.
“Your smile—it’s infectious,” shares Candace. “Your hugs cause me to melt in your arms and your kisses stop time. When you bat your eyes, I lose my sense and usually give in to your every need.”
Parker ends her note by encouraging her daughter to “be brave” and “dare to accept and exceed challenges.” The WNBA star also writes, “All I wish is that one day, you can truly understand how I feel about you. Because being your mother is my greatest accomplishment.”
Lailaa is Candace and husband Sheldon Williams’ only child. Read the WNBA mom’s full letter to her daughter here.
