LL Cool J was one of may celebrities to attend the 12th Annual Stuart House Benefit hosted by John Varvatos on Sunday. The rapper’s wife, Simone, and daughter Nina and a family friend were also in attendance, and showed much support for the charity efforts of John.
The designer launched his benefit in 2002, after visiting the Stuart House rape treatment center in Santa Monica, California, and seeing the lack of male support for women and children who experienced trauma. John has since made every effort to encourage men to support rape victims and protect children. “It is a cause that needs greater awareness,” says Varvatos. “We all have children we are connected with and we want to protect them.”
LL Cool J has joined the designer in spreading awareness by donating more than $7,000 to the Stuart House Benefit. “I’m happy to contribute,” shares the star. “As a child growing up I experienced abuse in my life on certain levels and this is something that is near and dear to my heart.”
LL Cool J and Simone have three daughters and one son together. Learn more about the Stuart House rape treatment center here.
