Jada Pinkett-Smith was a guest of honor at Saturday’s ‘Black Girls Rock!’ ceremony, which was held at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark, New Jersey. The actress, who was given a standing ovation for her efforts in the entertainment industry, was the recipient of the Star Power award.

Will Smith, Jada’s husband, presented her with the award, and gave a moving speech that addressed various rumors of his and Jada’s marriage being in trouble. “I started to imagine what my life would have been like without that woman,” said Will. It was evident that the power couple was in a good place as Jada and Will shared a beautiful kiss just before she accepted the award and gave her speech.
Jada challenged young African American women to rise above the negative stereotypes that plague society. “I need you to understand that we are the women who marched from cotton fields into fields of medicine … politics … entertainment,” explained the celebrity. “We have found a way to march into the White House.”
Speaking of White House, First Lady Michelle Obama was also in attendance at the ceremony and rendered a few words of encouragement. “There is nothing more important than being serious about your education,” shared the first lady. “That’s why I am able to stand here tonight,” added the Princeton University graduate.
The annual ‘Black Girls Rock!’ awards will air on BET on Sunday, April 5, 2015. Will and Jada Smith have two kids, Willow and Jaden, together. See more pictures of the Smith family below!
